  • The swim is in a scuba diving quarry protected from wind. No currents. • Surface water temperature in July is typically 75 .
  • The bike and run portions of the course are on rural Pennsylvania farm roads. The traffic count is low but the roads will be open to traffic. • The bike leg of the course is mostly flat for the first half with some rolling hills in the second half and a good 1/2 mile climb towards the run transititon.
  • The run starts and finishes on a 1/2 mile section of dirt road. The run course has challenging short climbs throughout.
    Directions To Race: It is important to remember that the start and finish areas are at two different locations. You will want to go to the start area first to pick up your race packet and rack your bike. You will then want to drive north on Rt. 441 for just over 5 miles to turn right on Turnpike Rd. and proceed uphill about 1 mile to a right turn on Governor’s Stable Rd. back to the Park and parking and the finishing area. There will be shuttle bus service to drive you back to the swim area for the start.
  • If you have access to a computer use the address of the start area on Mapquest to plan your trip. The Bainbridge Sportman’s Club is at 2037 River Rd. Bainbridge PA, 17502.
  • From Lancaster: Take Rt. 30 west to the second Columbia Exit and catch Rt. 441 north. Follow Rt. 441 north several mile past Marietta, and look for the sign and entrance to quarry on your left.
  • From York, Baltimore and points south: Get yourself to Baltimore and take I-83 north to York and catch Rt. 30 east to the first Columbia exit and take Rt. 441 north and follow above directions.
  • From Allentown, Philadelphia and points north or east, take Rt. 222 south from Allentown or PA Turnpike west from Philadelphia to Exit 286 where you will take Rt. 222 south as well and follow to Rt. 30 west to the second Columbia exit and take Rt. 441 north and follow above directions.
  • From Harrisburg and points west and north: Get yourself to Harrisburg and head east on I-283 to the first Elizbethtown exit and take Rt. 743 south towards Elizabethtown until you merge with Rt. 241. Follow Rt. 241 through Elizabethtown and to the end. You will turn left onto Rt. 441 south and follow approx. two mile to start entrance on your right.

    Course Info: The race is 10-miles long and consists of four legs; First leg: bike race, 2.3 miles, Second leg: canoe race, 3.0 miles (two-man canoes require a partner), Third leg: walk race, 2.4 miles, Fourth leg: bike race, 2.3 miles, Ironman category has unique rules that are posted on the website. They are the only class allowed to run instead of fast-walk.
